Emma Watson Says She Was Never Bullied Out Of College

Emma Watson - the Harry Potter actress announced last month that she was taking time off from her studies at Brown University to focus on her film career.

There were reports later on that she decided to leave college because she was bullied by fellow students. However, Emma is saying that she was not bullied out of the US Ivy League college at all as the media is portraying.

According to one report, the 21 year old Emma Watson was bullied by classmates when she gave correct answers. They used to make fun of her by shouting, 'Three points for Gryffindor' - reference to the fictional school of Harry Potter.

But Emma insists nothing like that ever happened. In fact, she said it is ridiculous to say that students at Brown University bully fellow students. She chose to take a break for acting and will continue studying again. She said she has never been bullied by anyone all her life.

Anyhow, though I feel students can make fun of her, most of the staff members say she is indeed correct in saying that she was never bullied. Seniors say that there was awareness about her but all of that faded in sometime at the campus.

As it is she joined the college in 2009 and it is a good enough time for students to get used to celebrities kids. This is exactly how it usually happens. I doubt it too that she would be bullied but yes people can make fun and joke around.

Lady Gaga Will Donate $1 Million For LGBTQ Organizations

Lady Gaga, who is very open about her bisexuality will be donating $1 million to the Robin Hood Foundation to support five New York based groups that aid homeless LGBTQ youths. The money will be used to support nonprofits completely.

According to figures, there are at least 4000 teens living on the streets of New York. Some are from foster cares, some have run away from their homes while some were rejected by their families because of their sexual orientation.

Robin Hood Foundation has programs that help these kids get off the streets and build stable lives for themselves. Lady Gaga has asked people to vote on which of the five charities should get the largest share of monetary support by getting $500,000.

The five charities are as follows:

1. The Door - It runs a health clinic, legal services, LGBT counseling and activities along with art classes and more. It provides services to 11,000 teens.

2. Hetrick-Martin Institute - It is the oldest organization that supports LGBTQ youth in America. It provides health services, food, counseling, education, career development and sexual health advice.

3. Lawyers for Children - It provides free legal and social work services to some 40,000 youth with special focus on the LGBTQ youth.

4. Safe Horizon - It serves homeless and abused youth of NYC and help them get back to a more stable life.

5. SCO Family of Services - It provides transitional housing, education, health services, life skills training and career guidance to the youth.

It is official news that January Jones is in fact pregnant with her first child.

For most of those who have been observing Jones in the past 10 months, the news is not that shocking or surprising. She has been photographed time and again being all drunk. She got into a drunken car accident and also banged Jason Sudeikis while she was drunk as assumed.

Thus, January Jones is happy to announce that she is expecting her first child this winter. She is quiet on all the other details for now as per close sources but she is looking forward to this new chapter in her life as a single mom.

China Shuns Rushdie's Human Rights Lecture

China has reacted to Salman Rushdie's article that he wrote for The Telegraph this month in which he wrote that China is the world's biggest threat to freedom of speech.

China's embassy in London responded with an open letter titled, 'Human Rights lecture not needed'. China denounced Rushdie's call for the release of Ai Weiwei, the Chinese artist who has been detained since April 3rd.

China feels this is interference in its judicial independence and violates its judicial sovereignty. China, therefore does not accept what Salman Rushdie wrote. China is a country under the rule of law. The basic rights and freedoms of Chinese citizens, including freedom of expression are protected by the law as they claim. China feels its people have immense amount of freedom to express whatever they like.

Wow, I feel China is definitely a country that does not allow freedom of speech to its people. People are locked up and threatened. They are not allowed to speak freely, use twitter and facebook openly. And Ai Weiwei detention was just another case of China's intolerance. Same goes for its treatment of animals and animal torture that takes place there more than often.

Paris Hilton's Boyfriend Was Hit By A Man Outside The LA Court House

Cy Waits and Paris Hilton just outside the court when Cy Waits was about to be hit.

The moment Cy was hit on the neck from behind.

The man was caught by one of the bodyguards.

A man tried to hit Paris Hilton's boyfriend - Cy Waits on Wednesday as the couple were headed into the Los Angeles court house.

Paris Hilton had to testify against a man accused of an attempted to break in to her home.

The incident was witnessed outside the Superior Court building by an Associated Press photographer and quite a few reporters.

The man ended up hitting Cy Waits on the neck but was immediately caught by one of the bodyguards and taken away. He has been detained and an investigation is under way.

While Paris tweeted this, 'a psycho intruder just punched Cy in the back of the head as we were walking into the court house.'

'Pet' Is An Insulting Word?

Academic professors are suggesting that calling your domestic dogs, cats, hamsters etc 'pets' is insulting them. Instead, they should be called 'companion animals' and owners should be known as 'human carers'.

The Journal of Animal Ethics, a new academic publication devoted an entire issue on these animal terms. It is edited by Revd Professor Andrew Linzey, a theologian and director of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics. He has received an honorary degree from the Archbishop of Canterbury for his work promoting the rights of 'God's sentient creatures'.

They feel that terms such as 'wildlife' are also insulting for the animals and they should be referred as 'free living'.

Now their stance is that such derogatory language about animals can affect the way they are treated. Thus, they feel 'pets' is definitely a derogatory term and if humans are referred to as 'pet owners', it means that the animals are merely some property or a thing to be possessed.

Not only that, the journal goes on to say that phrases such as 'sly as a fox', 'drunk as a skunk' and 'eat like a pig' are all unfair to the animals and should be removed.

Similarly, they oppose words like 'beasts' and 'critters' that are commonly associated with animals.

Well, I do understand where these professors are coming from but honestly speaking these words like human carers, companion animals and free life totally confused my mind in the beginning. They seem to be quite confusing in the first go. At the end of the day, animals will remain animals no matter how much love we give them and how humanely we treat them so I don't understand why these words sound so derogatory in the first place. They are not demeaning like calling somebody retarded or handicapped for instance.

I mean pets or pet owners or even wild life for that matter are not really harsh and demeaning words. Besides, the recommendations they have made are a bit too scientific barring free life.

It would be much better if we would practically do things to make things much better for both domestic and wild life animals rather than focus on words and there is so much room for improvement and action in this area alone.

Michael Douglas Says Catherine Was Depressed Cause Of 'Stiff Upper Lip'

Michael Douglas talked to Oprah Winfrey on her show about his wife's depression. He said that it was Catherine Zeta Jone's upbringing that stressed her even more.

He said that she grew up in an environment where she was not allowed to express her emotions and she totally broke from inside when she heard about Michael's throat cancer.

Zeta was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder because of all the mental stress she has been under for all this time dealing with her husband's illness. Michael admitted that his health problems made his wife's illness worse.

Michael said he is the sort of person who makes no fuss about things and needs no attention. So when he heard of his cancer, he got ready for his treatment but Catherine took the strain big time all this while.

According to Michael, Catherine is Welsh and they have this 'stiff upper lip' and do not show their feelings. She was under pressure in the last one and half year but she never spoke about it.

Michael was very candid when he told Oprah, that in the last year his oldest son was in prison, his ex wife was suing him and he got cancer on top of it. It became difficult for Catherine to say in all this while that she was 'depressed'.

But the way she coped with the situation made him feel really proud of Catherine and he is happy that she dealt with her depression in a mature manner. Now Catherine is back to work and is busy shooting for her next film.

Italians Are Angry As Croatia Claims Marco Polo

Italians are quite furious when they saw Croatia tried to claim the legendary explorer Marco Polo as one of their own.

It all happened when a museum dedicated to Marco Polo in the Chinese city of Yangzhou was opened not by Italian dignitaries but by a former president of Croatia - Stjepan Mesic.

It is said that the exact date and place of Marco Polo's birth are still unknown but most people believe he came from Venice. Some say he was born on the island of Korcula on the Adriatic coast, which is now known as Croatia.

This museum was built in Yangzhou because Marco Polo was an official there from 1282 to 1284. However, when Mesic inaugurated the museum he described Polo as 'a world explorer, born in Croatia who opened up China to Europe'.

Thus, this statement has led to an unpleasant situation. Italian publications have described this Croatian claim to be ridiculous and provocative.

Two Eight Graders Hanged Themselves In Their School Slumber Party

Two best friends named Haylee Fentress and Paige Moravetz committed suicide at their school slumber party in Minnesota recently because they were bullied by fellow students. Both the girls were eight graders at Marshall Middle School. Their hanged bodies were discovered in the school early in the morning.

Police believe they had a suicide pact. It seems that the girls had planned their suicide for a long time and had left proper goodbye letters telling their families that they loved them. They even left funeral details in their goodbye notes.

Haylee had often complained to her family that ever since she moved to the new town she felt ostracized and bullied.

In the last one year, Haylee made one best friend and that was Paige Moravetz. Paige was spending time in Haylee's home as her mother and step dad had gone for a 10 day vacation to Hawaii.

It is always sad to read such stories because bullying is a never ending story. Kids and even adults are bullied all the time. There are a lot of people who are unable to face the pressure and get so hurt in the process that they can no longer continue their lives. These girls had not even seen the real life and they ended up finishing their lives so soon.

It is interesting to see that although quite a few kids end their lives due to bullying every year but still not enough precautions are taken to prevent such things from happening. And bullies feel victorious all the time since bullies are never ever caught.

Anne Robinson Says Farewell To The "Weakest Link"

Anne Robinson, one of the most famous BBC presenters ever has decided to say goodbye to the quiz show after 11 years.

Over the years, she told thousands of contestants that they were the weakest link. She was dubbed as 'the Queen of Mean' for her strict and stern attitude.

However, 66 year old Anne Robinson said it was time to quit because it become more like a military operation. She is the highest paid BBC presenters and earned about a million pounds every year. She clarified, she didn't leave because of any salary cut. She also said that she originally said she would do the show for 10 years but settled to work for 11 years instead, which is more than enough and she should focus on other projects.

BBC will end the show instead of finding a replacement for Anne Robinson since she had created a persona to the identity of Weakest Link. Thus, after 1693 episodes over 12 years, 15,000 contestants, 230,000 questions and countless insults from Anne Robinson, the show will end.

Lindsay Lohan Went To Prison But Was Released After Five Hours

Lindsay Lohan was briefly jailed on Friday as the Los Angeles judge, Stephanie Sautner downgraded her jewellery theft but sentenced her to four months behind bars for violating her probation.

Lindsay Lohan looked confused and distressed on Friday after hearing this and was taken immediately to prison from court after the day long hearing session in the court for her $2500 gold necklace theft.

Her jewellery charges were reduced to a misdemeanour from a more serious crime and might just reduce to a one year time behind bars if she is eventually convicted. However, judge felt the evidence suggested that she intended to steal the jewellery.

She ruled that Lohan had violated her probation for a 2007 drunk driving and cocaine possession incident. So she sentenced her to 120 days jail and 480 hours community service in a morgue and women's prison.

Lindsay's lawyer filed an appeal immediately. She was released later in the day after five hours behind the bars. Her lawyer argued that she was distracted and absent minded when she left the store with the necklace but she didn't steal.

Lindsay Lohan has merely destroyed her acting career herself as she been too busy with her rehabs, prison and courtroom episodes since 2007. She was offered a role in film by John Gotti but it is not clear how she would be a part of the shooting with her case, prison visits etc.

Stop Fracking In South Africa

Fracking is a disastrous and harmful practice, and South Africa's beautiful Karoo region is now under threat.

Tens of thousands of square kilometres of South Africa’s beautiful Karoo region are being threatened by a polluting and extremely water-intensive method of natural gas extraction called fracking.

Tell the South African government to protect this extremely water-stressed and ecologically sensitive area and ban fracking.

Numerous instances of catastrophic groundwater and air pollution as well as devastating health impacts on humans and animals have been documented in the USA where fracking has experienced an unprecedented boom in recent years.

This supposedly clean technology is no answer to climate change either. When its entire lifecycle is considered, natural gas produced by fracking has been shown to have a carbon footprint that is comparable to or substantially larger than that of coal.

It’s not too late. Right now, South Africa is in a position to learn from the negative American experience with fracking and to avoid its devastating consequences by denying Shell and other oil and gas companies permission to use it in the country.

Meet Marlon Brando's Grandson - Tuki Brando

Tuki Brando, is Marlon Brando's grandson. He recently did this chic ad campaign for TechnoMarine watches in which he looks super hot!

The 20 year old Tuki is a medical student. He is quite good looking and it is said he inherited his good looks from his grandfather and his mother.

Tuki has already worked for high class fashion brands such as Versace in 2007 and has worked with the best photographers such as Bruce Webber and Mario Testino.

However, unlike other celebrity kids, Tuki had a tough and challenging childhood and life. His father was shot dead by his uncle Christian Brando (Marlon Brando's son) while his mother was pregnant with him. When he was five, his mother committed suicide because of her mental illness. So he lived with his maternal grandmother in Tahiti. When Tuki turned 13, his grandfather died and Tuki was unfortunately omitted from his will.

Thus, from a very young age Tuki has fought hard. He is doing well in the modelling world and is juggling modelling with his studies in the French town of Bordeaux.

I think he is quite good looking, though not quite the same as his grandfather - Marlon Brando. But he is perfect to be a model. But what is worth admiring is his fighter spirit!

45 year old Cindy Crawford, the former supermodel of the 1980s admits that she feels like an outsider now looking looking at the size zero models today.

She said she started modelling as a normal size ten but now girls are very skinny. She does feel that today the job has become more demanding for the models as compared to her days. In her days, size six was normal but now it is either two or zero.

Words from a former supermodel like her, only adds to the issue of having skinny and unhealthy models as they give unrealistic expectations to younger women.

Cindy said she eats well and works out so that her daughter Kala (9 years) and son Presley (11 years) are aware about the right choices regarding health and looks. She feels her kids should not think that they will look attractive if they are uber skinny because that is unhealthy.

I think these are very smart and relevant comments from a successful and smart lady such as Cindy Crawford. She was hot in whatever size she was. Size zero models can look slightly painful at times and they make things for others way too tough. They put intense pressure on other girls and women to look skinny hot and it is definitely unrealistically aspirational that not many women can apply in their lives.

Catherine Zeta Jones Returns To Work With High Spirits

This is a follow up news on Catherine Zeta Jones who was recently admitted to a US rehabilitation clinic for five days earlier this month. She was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder, which is a form of manic depression.

The latest at her end is that she has returned back to her job. The Oscar winning actress seemed fully recovered (which I don't totally believe but anyway) as she appeared on the sets of 'Playing the Field' in Louisiana.

She was wearing black trousers and a silky, low cut sleeveless top. She was in good spirits as she she joked around with colleagues and actors Dennis Quaid and Uma Thurman on the sets.

The 41 year old actress has suffered from depression in the past but it has been traumatic for her to deal with her husband's throat cancer. But she believes in second chances after her therapy. She feels Michael has been given a second chance and so has she and she will make the most out of it.

Well, we can only wish she gets better soon. Though it takes time to fully recover from manic depression no matter how much the person shows that he or she is just like the way they were before. It is natural that it heals with time. However, it is a tough time and we hope they make it through this time in a positive way.

Queen Elizabeth Turns 85 and Meets The Middletons Finally

I can't help it, the Royals are everywhere on every source I am reading so I have to write down on them. Today is Queen Elizabeth II's 85th birthday. It is the first time that the Queen's birthday has fallen on a Maundy Thursday.

Therefore, she attended the traditional Royal Maundy Service at Westminster Abbey where she was accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh.

She handed out Maundy money to 85 men and 85 women, one for each of her 85 years. Anyway, I was just going through the Queen's various photos and she looks so cunning. Look at her shrewd eyes.

And just on the side, let me fill in the other news as well that finally Kate Middleton's parents ended up meeting the Queen just eight days before the Royal Wedding.

The Queen invited Michael and Carole Middleton to a private lunch at Windsor Castle where they spent more than an hour together in a warm atmosphere. Though, Kate met the Queen on several occasions, her parents never met the monarch in the eight year courtship of William and Kate. Since the Queen's diaries are booked for months, they had to wait for a long time to actually meet her.

The most interesting part of these Royal newsflash are the comments of the locals. Most of the people said they care not about this wedding at all. Some are putting up questions like did the Middleton's ever thought that they are marrying their daughter in a highly dysfunctional family. While some even asked if meeting Granny's so important otherwise but then everybody's granny is not the Queen. And one person said that Kate is facing media in a far better way than Diana and is going to be a much charming PR face for the rather dull Royal family in the years to come.

Astrologer Predicts Royal Wedding Day Can Be Doomed

One astrologer has warned that the planets are spelling doom for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

According to him, April 29th is not a suitable day for the big day as most of the planets are in a disharmonious alignment as per the readings. This means the marriage could face hurdles. Perhaps they should have waited a month or two for the wedding said the astrologer.

Though nothing is certain, but this means there are risks of terrorism or chaos behind the scenes of the wedding, as per the prediction. And Kate and William should be prepared to face these challenges.

As per their birth charts, William is a Cancerian while Kate's star is Capricorn, which means their sun signs are opposites. However, this leads to a perfect astrological pairing because opposite signs complement each other.

However, their birth charts are closely analyzed with their wedding day - April 29th and that shows the planets are not in a great position for the two. Sixty three year old, Elisabeth Sladen, who is best known for her role in Doctor Who died after fighting a long batter with cancer.

BBC announced her death and about the cancer she was suffering from. Very few people knew about her ill health.

She played the role of Time Lord's assistant, Sarah Jane Smith opposite actors Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker in the BBC television series since 1973.

She left the show in 1976 but took the role of an investigative journalist in The Sarah Jane Adventures.

She leaves behind a husband, actor Brian Miller and a daughter Sadie.

Germany, has come up with an extremely modern way to find dates online. A dating service has been set up by biology students in Munich, Germany that will test subjects' DNA t find the most compatible gene pools.

Sarah A. Port is the 25 year founder of this dating service. It is a 120 pound a time Gmatch service that uses saliva samples to test whether potential partners are compatible and it claims a much higher success rate than any other match making website.

Sarah further explained why this DNA based site would work better because every time we meet someone, in a matter of seconds we get to know if we are attracted to them or not. Similarly, we also naturally have the habit of sniffing the scent of others. Thus, chemicals or pheromones play a crucial part in match making.

This is pretty interesting stuff I guess.

Piss Christ Photograph Damaged

This is a rather strange story from an art exhibition in France. A man took a hammer and destroyed the controversial photograph of a crucifix. The reason why he got angry was because the photograph had the crucifix bathed in urine.

This happened at the modern art museum, the Collection Lambert in France. The photograph was made by an American artist Andres Serrano and titled it as 'Immersion (Piss Christ)'.

This is not the first time something of the sort happened. This photograph has been under fire ever since Serrano created it. In 1987, Serrano was heavily criticized for his Piss Christ work that lead to a religious controversy altogether.

The photograph was part of an exhibition called 'I Believe in Miracles'. It was denounced by right wing groups and considered blasphemous. Perhaps, the man who damaged the photo belonged to the right wing also.

The police saw two people entering the museum with spray paints and a chisel in their jackets but the guards removed these objects. However, a third person got hold of a hammer to damage the photograph. The attacker managed to escape. He also ended up damaging another piece of art while escaping titled 'The Church (Sister Jeanne-Myriam)' that showed a nun praying.

On Tuesday, the museum will reopen with the destroyed works on display so that the public can view the damage.

Serrano made this work by placing a crucifix in urine and blood and Christian groups have criticized it openly. The Christian activists will take Collection Lambert to court and want the museum to remove the photograph from its exhibition. They feel, this photograph insults Christians. The exhibit opened last December and will run till May 8th.

I understand the creativity and artist connection completely but the crucifix and urine combo was a bit too much or beyond my understanding. Obviously, with such a sensitive subject religion and holy figures involved, one has to be careful because you might end up hurting sentiments of many.

Lady Gaga fan kills & mutilates a pet cat to use for costume

A 20 year old woman killed & mutilated family pet cat & later on used its blood as part of her costume. This is what she was supposed to wear on the concert but she was arrested for cruelty to animals.

Some websites are making references to Lady Gaga’s meat dress and the killing of this cat, like the Post Chronicle. It states that “it is unclear if the woman was trying to emulate Lady Gaga‘s meat dress from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards."

Anyway Angelina K, Barnes the woman who killed the 12 year old family pet is suffering from depression. She was all dressed up for the concert when a relative returned home. Angelina was wearing a long coat & her face was covered in blood. Naturally the relative called the police & the relative was one of her aunts.

“Authorities discovered that Barnes drowned the cat. After the cat was dead, she sliced the cat open and mutilated its eyes. The cat's liver was found in a make-up case on top of the bathroom vanity.”

Lady Gaga is not the person who would ever harm any animal but this is one of the creepiest things to be associated with her. Beyond any doubt, Angelina is mentally ill. Who in her senses would kill a 12 year old family cat just to dress up for a concert!!!

Well I don’t think it’s the 1st time someone conducted this ceremony in the nude. I don’t find it sexy, however. It seems hilarious. But who knows maybe there is some fun in staying naked on your wedding day :P

Irish student paid £250 to act as Miss Portman's body double

There is just too much controversy about Miss Portman’s body doubles. Few days ago, it was Sarah Lane who claimed that she did most of the dance scenes in Black Swan.

‘They're completely lying about the amount of dancing Natalie did in the movie,' she said.

'I've been doing this for 22 years, and to say that someone trained for a year and a half and did what I did is degrading not only to me but to the entire ballet world,' she said.

And now there is Caroline Davis (a local Irish girl) who was paid just £250 to jump into the cold waters for Natalie’s latest movie Your Highness & this means Natalie avoided braving the freezing lake.

Caroline Davis said: ‘I’m a film studies student so I jumped at the chance to be on set.’

The concept of body double is very old but in Natalie Portman’s case, it seems something new.
