Newsfeed: Miss you Ali :(

I accept, I still can't believe my friend is no more. I keep checking his profile where people are now writing condolence messages. Even, if I play a game, I keep seeing his name pop up every now and then. I have his numbers on my cell phone. I still remember how hyper active, aggressive he was. He wanted to be a tycoon. If I am missing him so much, I am sure his family is going though an even worse time.

Though, I don't consider everyone to be a good friend. But with some people you just bond well. There is this connect, which is there. So, I am quite sad that a good friend has gone.

It's not just him, the more I read about this incident, the more I see how sad every story is. It is a deep loss. God has shown us how we can plan whatever we want, but He can shake it all up in a second.

My prayers are with everyone who has gone and the families that they face this tough time.

However, I need to note down that I have seen very weird people ever since I started working. But some people have broken all records of being low. I cant believe how low and in human people can get. I know this ugly, illiterate, liar without any class. And I swear I can't believe why anybody should do such a thing, but he actually did something as low as adding up my friend Ali, after he died. I mean how fucked up can one get. When he was alive and sent you a friend request you were giving him attitude by not adding him, behaving as if you are someone above him. As if adding a decent guy in your cheap circle was too big a deal. But when I saw this newsfeed on my wall, I was furious and felt sick that the bitch accepted his facebook request after he was dead. Humanity is rare.

I don't know why my friend had to die like this...:( Miss you a lot and will do always, no matter how quickly the world moves on.

Plane crash tragedy

Yesterday’s tragedy is something that cannot be ignored. Countless young people died in that crash. Fixing the blame would not bring those 152 people back. Who gives a damn whether it was human error or some technical problem that caused this tragedy! Just like always rescue operation too was not up to the mark. Although I give them points for recovering so many bodies or rather body parts.


My siblings were friends with people who were on that plane. Naturally I get to hear stories revolving around the victims who are dead. I’m quite worried about 2 kids who are actually infants & their fathers are dead. One of them is just 6 days old & the other one is 2 months old or something. Can you actually imagine what kind of lives these kids would have? And I’m sure there must be other kids like them as well who have lost their parents in this god-damn Margalla Hills plane crash.


My brother was friends with this guy Hassan who was Youth Prime Minster. My sister also knew him. This guy was just 26. Z’s friend Ali was only 28. I heard so much about him, but I didn’t meet him in person. He adored his baby like anything; he called him his little toy & now that kid would never know that love of his father.


Then there was a couple who were going on their honeymoon. 4 friends from Baldia also died in this accident; they were going with their friend on his wedding. A man who couldn’t make it to the airport on time lost his family in that crash.


People who are dead are dead, but their loved ones would never forget this god-damn tragedy which has altered their lives forever.


If we reflect on this accident, naturally what is obvious is that death is certain & it cannot be avoided. And I couldn’t help thinking that so many devilish people are alive who go around tormenting others, but good people who might have contributed a lot died in that crash. And as long as I live, I can’t get those 2 kids out of my mind. Life without your father or mother is hell on earth & only those who have lost them know it. And it fucking hurts to see that someone else would go through the same ordeal & there’s nothing that can be done about it. This is just one aspect that I have touched. Life is way too complicated & tough in all its aspects, so to speak.

God's Way

It is the saddest of days. I feel so numb and sad. Till yesterday, I was enjoying the rain and celebrating my freedom from my job. But all that seems so meaningless. We heard there was a plane crash somewhere in the morning.

Later, this colleague came up to me that Ali (my friend who ran his digital company) was on that flight. I was shocked, couldn't believe. Asked him if this is a confirmed news. Then confirmed again about survivors. I didn't finish asking....and he tells me this other guy Naveed (my senior at SZABIST and the planner for Nokia) was also on that flight.

I came down and called up Ali on all the numbers he gave me. I checked online the news about the Airblue bloody crash in Margalla hills, which all said it was due to bad weather and low visibility that the plane crashed. Then there was news for 5 survivors. I kept asking my friends in media for names hoping my friends would be alive. Checked again a passengers boarding list...just to discover two more people whom I knew were on the same flight. One of them was my batch mate at SZABIST, very nice, handsome dude, president of the youth parliament.

And people kept on chatting and putting facebook status, praying and hoping. And it was all useless. No body on that plane has survived. All 152 people are dead they are saying. People kept messaging and calling each other. People are affected big time. Bodies can't even be identified.

It's so weird to know people you meet and talk to are suddenly dead. I was particularly very close to Ali. He was a very good friend of mine. A friend who actually cared for me a lot and would call me up whenever he even felt I was worried a bit. I saw his profile and his status last night was "Out of Order". I checked his status over the weekend and it said "Hope the Saturday never ends." He had a son just a while ago. I always dread the fact that people who are left behind after somebody dies suffer a lot. We have seen it. We say it till this day if papa would have been alive, life would be better. And now I see Ali's kid wouldn't really see him as he would grow up. It's a sad sickening feeling to see it happening. I met him a few weeks ago, and he was saying it took us 6 months to meet up now when do we meet next...:(:(

This other guy Naveed, just had 6 days old daughter and now he is gone too. Another guy from media was going to meet his parents and met this tragedy. Hassan, after college I got to know about him today, that he is dead.

And what more, last night was the holy night when people pray for forgiveness. When God writes down your destiny for the coming year. When He writes who will live and who will die. And the very next morning He reminds us that He can do anything and that we are just mortals.

I really do hope all the families who have lost their loved ones will have the courage to go through this. RIP Hassan Javed and Naveed Ilyas.

ALI - I will really, truly miss you a lot! I have lost a very good friend today :( :( :(

Pak is world leader in online sex search

They may call it the ‘Land of the Pure,’ but Pakistan ranks as the top country to proportionally search for certain sex-related terms on the web. The country that banned 17 websites to block offensive and blasphemous material is the world's leader in online searches for pornographic material.

“You won’t find strip clubs in countries. Most Islamic countries have certain dress codes,” Fox News quoted Gabriel Said Reynolds, professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Notre Dame, as saying.


“It would be an irony if they haven’t shown the same vigilance to pornography,” she added.


Its top searches include terms like ‘horse sex’, ‘donkey sex’, ‘rape pictures’, and ‘child sex’, as per information provided by Google.


Pakistan is known to be very strict in banning anything that poses to be anti Islam, and so is porn, but no action seems to have been taken by authorities towards this new trend.

My comment:


I have no doubt about this finding. But I don’t see the point of comparing blasphemy with porn. Blasphemous material or blasphemy is one thing but watching or searching for pornographic material is another thing. People are supposed to respect religious beliefs, if they do have a developed mind. What a person does in private is none of your business. They are talking about the punishment for those charged with blasphemy & also wondering as to what should be done with people who search for porn. And I think it’s really ruthless to judge anyone for watching porn & more so because he/she is a Pakistani. They could have just talked about porn without touching the topic of blasphemy. And what’s this crap about they call it the land of pure? It seems that porn is basically created for the need of just Pakistanis. And they have tried to project that Pakistanis are more interested in donkey sex, horse sex, rape pictures & child sex. This is fucking biased. But then what can we expect of them?

Anyhow, I’m definitely not supporting those sickos who have nothing better to do online.

Abandoning children

It’s really heart wrenching to read about children being left at shelters by parents. Worst of all is to know that parents due to poverty sell their kids. These things happen every day. Poverty is one of the major problems that can make you do unbelievable things. You kill your own kids, you sell them or you abandon them. Everyone has problems, but some problems actually destroy lives.


And I read that the registered number of people living in different facilities of the Edhi Centre in just Karachi has crossed 13000. And more than 500 are children who are being abandoned by parents. This is indeed a very bleak picture.

Scientists crack 'chicken or egg' query

British scientists believe they have cracked the answer to the age-old question of which came first, the chicken or the egg?


Researchers have found that a protein called ovocleidin (OC-17) is crucial in the formulation of eggshells, and it is produced in the pregnant hen's ovaries, the Daily Express reports.


Therefore, the answer to the conundrum must be that the chicken came first.


Using a high-tech computer to look at the molecular structure of a shell, the team of scientists from the Universities of Sheffield and Warwick found that OC-17 acts as a catalyst, kick-starting the conversion of calcium carbonate in the chicken's body into calcite crystals.


They make up the hard shell that houses the yolk and its protective fluids while the chick develops.



'It had long been suspected that the egg came first but now we have the scientific proof that shows that in fact the chicken came first,' said Dr Colin Freeman, from Sheffield University.


'The protein had been identified before and it was linked to egg formation but by examining it closely we have been able to see how it controls the process.'


But the researchers have not yet got an answer to how the protein-producing chicken existed in the first place.

My blog is more like my virtual diary, but it’s strange that I’ve never maintained a diary in my real life. Lately I don’t feel like writing much on the blog. It’s not that I don’t come across spicy or horrifying reports. Actually things have been quite hectic at my end. Sometimes I really want to leave everything behind & go for hiking or any kind of adventurous vacation, which doesn’t mean I’m interested in cheap thrills.


I’m also waiting for Ramazan. Z & I always wait for Ramazan. Although I invariably pray for all the wrong things – that has been my history. And I don’t know how does one get to know what is right or wrong for him/her. There’s no formula that could guarantee that things might work & one doesn’t have any clue as to what might click.


Instead of having fun, even virtual games seem to be more of a burden now. MW keeps on introducing new missions every week & that too has become hectic. Plus my siblings also have stopped playing mafia.


Mr. Salt & Ms. Pepper gave birth to one little bunny, but he died after 5 days. My cats are all good. Coco has become a big time thug. She fights with every one. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that I have raised a very cute Devil. She was barely 3 weeks old when Ammi & I found her.


Yesterday I was saying to Z that earlier on I used to wish her so many idiotic things on her birthday. Now everything sounds so rotten.


Just don’t watch that new movie of Kareena & Shahid. If you want to watch a good romantic flick, get Serendipity itself but stay miles away from this shitty copy.


I have heard this crap a couple of times that people keep on thinking about death & no one does it like them. Well if you do, then obviously everything else becomes insignificant. Right? But it doesn’t. I have seen a couple of deaths, but sorry I don’t keep thinking about it. I don’t know if it’s going to be an educational experience or not. Life itself has been fucking interesting. Why would death be any different?


I have not just read that women have problem in changing nappies of their own kids in one or 2 lousy magazines, in fact I have also met few mothers, aunties, khalas complaining about changing nappies of infants. It’s saddening, to say the least. I never recommend anyone to keep pets & one of the reasons is that they might shit or pee outside the pot & cleaning it would be nothing short of hell for those who have problem with smell. Although kids grow up, but pets don’t. But nevertheless pets deserve far better parents. I have never liked that weird concept of maasi but this nappy thingy was a bit too much.


And seriously speaking, why do people complain about smell that stinks? Don’t they shit or fart or sweat? Oh & the word ‘sweat’ reminds me of that unique stink of pardah observing ladies!

And I literally hate myself for deserting my own blog, but sometimes it’s just not possible to be around.

Indiana Family Saved by Pit Bull

They’re calling it a “phenomenal act of heroism by a dog.” And that “dog” happens to be a pit bull.



While it seems pit bulls get a bad rep at times, one is being credited for saving the lives of his Bristol family members Thursday night. “It started here on the back porch, they said, underneath it. We have no idea how the fire started.”



When the fire began, Kemper Hunter, his girlfriend Sarah Laughlin and their three month old baby, Shelby, were asleep. They woke up to their pit bull “Thor” jumping persistently on the bed. Kemper Hunter says, “We kept pushing him away like, ‘Yeah, we’ll take you outside in a little bit. It’s 3 o’clock in the morning. We’re asleep.’ We kept pushing him away and then I pushed him one time to turn around and he hit me in the face with both paws and he nipped at me and I sat up, you know, my dogs never done that.”



Sarah Laughlin says, “I kind of peaked around the curtain we have in our hallway and seen the flames and smoke and it just freaked me out. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I just started screaming.’” Hunter says,”And we turned around. He had my daughter, which is three months old, in the bassinet, pulled to the front door ready to go.” They had only lived in this Bristol mobile home for a week… saying it had taken them months to find a place that would accept pit bulls. They say that’s a shame because Thor – regardless of his breed – is very smart and wonderful with kids. Hunter got him seven years ago when the pup was rejected by his mother.



Hunter says, “He’s seven years old. I’ve had him since he was born. I’ve got him through parvo and I winged him through that. We went to jail together one time, to be honest. and he’s just been a fantastic dog.” A dog who has now given back to his family. And as they start back at square one in trying to find a new home, they say, now, more than ever, leaving Thor is not an option.



Kemper says, “I’m overwhelmed. I mean I thank God for my dog. He saved my child. He saved my girlfriend here and he saved myself.” Sarah says, “He’s always been like our son to us, but now it’s like his our hero. He saved our lives.”



The family lost everything all of their clothing, household and baby items and would be grateful for any help.

Freaking Retards

It’s been a while, I haven’t done any bitching session. It’s about time, I must have one. You guys know how badly I’m addicted to mafia & in order to play MW, we need other players. This maybe okay for those who don’t have issues with adding strangers, but it’s not always okay with me. Although I have met some nice people while playing these games but you know we have weirdos all over the world who don’t realize that people need space & it’s better to mind one's own god-damn business.


Lately I deleted one guy from my list who developed this irritating habit of commenting on every post & status on my wall. Even though many a time, I never even responded, but this madness went on for 1 week (although he had been in my circle for quite some time). Whenever I shared any link, he had to crack some stupid joke & the funny thing is that even others ignored him. He was so annoying that he even liked walls left by others for me. Sometimes he even commented on kitties & flowers people posted for me on my wall. Before I deleted him from my circle, I told him there’s a limit to everything. At 1st I thought of writing a small note to him about his annoying habit, but then it occurred to me that it’s useless. People think they are always right.


However, it’s a terrible experience to see people in their 30s behaving as retards. I don’t know how people do this to themselves. Maybe some people take forever to mature. Whatever the reason is, they are a source of prime pain. And it’s my assessment that they have no clue about it. They are genuine retards.


But it’s far easier to deal with such nitwits in real life rather in the virtual world (when one is busy playing games). Now I play just 3 games, but I really don’t have time for bullshit or silly talk when I’m online. Sometimes we don’t talk to good friends for months & I happen to know many cool people. I find it all the more irritating when someone acts being so god-damn chipkoo. I also hate myself for having patience & not exploding when it’s required. But the problem is that I don’t lose my temper that often, but when I do, it fucking erupts.

Update on Cutie

A month ago when I mentioned Cutie, maggots were eating away one of his ears & we were all worried as he’s stray & it was almost impossible to take him to the vet. However, I have some good news. He’s out of danger now.


I’m sorry to say but as usual the vets didn’t have any time to come over to someone’s place to treat any patient. My brother did a search on how to cure an animal infected with maggots. It took us 3 days to get rid of maggots & Cutie had been very co-operative ever since. He does let us put ointment on his wound without scratching us. And he has even become friends with our cat Baby who wants to stay outside for a change. She has such strange habits.



During this entire month, Cutie used to pick fights with other strays & we had to start over all again. It was never from square one though, but it had been scary for us. Now we can say the nightmare is almost over. Again it was indeed very tough on us to take care of him, as we couldn’t lock him up in a room & protect him from other cats. One tuxedo cat is always around & he’s quite a bully.


Nevertheless, his recovery has been a miracle. I just don’t have any other word. God helped us helped him. There’s one thing I’ve learnt from this particular case – if you believe something is totally impossible, think again. God has zillion ways of helping you out, if you trust Him to guide you.

Met an old friend

Today I met one of my old friends (Hina) at Forum after 12 years & it was such a good feeling. It all started off from where we left. She hasn’t changed a bit. She’s still that sweet, friendly, down-to-earth, warm-hearted person that she was back in the 80s. Actually we became friends in 87 & we used to go in the same school bus, so we have some great memories which I won’t pen down :P



It’s pretty cool to meet someone who just doesn’t project that made-up image. Almost everyone I knew in my school days have turned into materialistic creatures. But here we have Hina who is still as lovely as she was before. She also has a gorgeous daughter now.



Last time I saw her when I was waiting for my point in 98 & as usual she waved at me. Some people always stay beautiful! In one of my write-ups, I said that I have lost my faith in humans, but I guess I haven’t. After one hell of a long time, I met someone genuine.


And my old friends instantly recognize Z. Anyway I give points to Hina for recognizing me, cause that’s one tough thing :P

The world is not that bad a place

I read this today & I was thinking that it’s very true, cause every night I go to bed, I think about 2 guys & the funny thing is that I never had a crush on either of them. However, it’s different in different cases. I have heard that many a time, people think about someone else while tying the knot with a totally different person. Which could mean a lot of things. In fact, it reminds me of another saying: “Love is like a war, it’s easy to begin, hard to end & never to forget.”

And Hindi movies did a lot of damage in our childhood. I really want to erase that idea of love from my mind. I’m so sorry to say but everything now is more or less about profit & loss. It’s what you have, that’s gonna get you a piece of shit-head or something far more shittier.


Anyhow the world is after all not that bad, if someone is thinking about you, but there’s a big IF.

Remains of a girl found after 2 years

The 1^st thing I read in the morning was again one horrifying story. Quite frankly, even we forget about these reports after some time. Remains of a young female have been recovered after 2 years. She was raped & then murdered by 2 professional criminals.

Well she used to talk to one of them on the phone, then she left her home to get married to him in 2007. The suspect had no intention of marrying her at all. He took her to a rented house where he & his friend repeatedly raped her for days & later on killed her. They also buried her in the same house. She was from Dera Ghazi Khan.

During interrogation, one criminal blurted this out. Although the police kept a watch on these 2 men as they used to visit jail every now & then but no one knew about this missing girl.

Isn’t it ironic that people see beautiful dreams & they end up in deep trouble! In this case, the girl is dead & before dying, she went through hell. I often think that marriage is one thing in which you must convince your parents, cause you need them all the way. Although this doesn’t happen with every female who runs away from home, but this is one big risk.

After a while you learn the difference between holding a hand and falling in love. You begin to learn that kisses don't always mean something. Promises can be broken just as quickly as they are made and goodbyes really are forever.
