Another Christian woman named Aasia has been sentenced to death on charges of blasphemy. As usual this woman has been falsely accused by her neighbors (a group of Muslim women). She had a dispute on water & later on these vicious neighbors implicated her in a false case of blasphemy.
She has been in prison for one & a half year. Pope Benedict has also urged Pakistan to release Aasia Bibi.
It’s widely known that Section 295-C is commonly abused & used for personal gain & many people in Pakistan willingly give false evidence. Mostly the accused is murdered by zealots. Fatwas are being passed against lawyers & judges. No attempt is made to investigate the charge against the accused. The person is thrown straight away in jail if a case is registered against him.
Amnesty International has asked Pakistan to revise the law. But ideally this ought to be deleted from the statute book, cause this inhuman law has only persecuted the innocent. This law is used to terrorize both Muslims & non-Muslims.
Basically the Blasphemy law was enacted to protect the religious sentiments of the Muslim minorities in the subcontinent against the Hindu majority. There is no point to have it now. Muslims are not in minority in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Instead of abolishing the law after the creation of Pakistan, they made it more stringent & dangerous with the passage of time.
Religion can never be a source of discrimination but this is actually a symbol of religious terrorism through law. When a Muslim blasphemes, he becomes a murtid but a non-Muslim cannot be a murtid cause he’s already kafir. Naturally the hadd punishment is not applicable to him.

‘Blasphemy lies in greater things. For the people to be repeatedly denied their rights in a state founded in the name of Islam is blasphemy. Hunger & deprivation are blasphemy, something which the great Caliph Omar understood when he said that even if a dog went hungry by the banks of the Euphrates the Lord of the Hosts would hold him accountable on the Day of Judgment.
The greatest blasphemy of all is a child going hungry, a child condemned to the slow death of starvation. The miscarriage of justice is blasphemy. An unconscious gap between rich & poor is blasphemy. Denial of treatment to the sick, denial of education to a child are alike examples of blasphemy. The Prophet (PBUH) said cleanliness is next to godliness. What would he say about the monument to dirt & filth raised in the Islamic Republic?’
But yes all of it is beyond people who kill dogs in posh areas. If a maulna gives order to kill an infant even in a mosque, people lynch the innocent baby. Infants are killed here on a daily basis & everyone prefers to keep mum about it. Naturally when all of this happens & no one protests against it, evil people don’t mind implicating innocent people in false cases due to personal enmity. Whenever we say that Rajm is a Jewish punishment & it’s no where mentioned in the Holy Quran…people start calling us Westernized & kafir. The Quran is the primary source. All these inhuman laws have already done enough damage. When are we going to wake up?
Aasia Bibi has 5 small kids. She has been wrongly implicated in this case over a fight on water bowl. I think it’s a far bigger sin to fabricate things & implicate anyone in a false case.
