Very saddening!

Yesterday more than 88 Ahmedis were killed & around 200 have been injured in twin attacks in Lahore. It’s utterly devastating that people in this country are not even spared while they are worshiping. In fact, they are the ones who are targeted every now & then.

However, what I find more saddening is that some people were happy on yesterday killings as it was the Ahmediyya community. I don’t think I have written anything on Ahmedis on my blog. Even when I mentioned the Blasphemy law, I didn’t talk about them as such. It’s understood that the minority is targeted & mostly, they are falsely implicated in cases due to personal enmity.

What I do find extremely cheap is that we have a clause in our constitution that specifically calls Ahmedis non-Muslims. They are people & people have no control where they are born; it’s not the fault of a person, if he/she is born in some Ahmedi family.

However, I’m aware that not much can be done to change the thinking of people. Closed minds start pointing fingers at us when we support people of other religion. I’m not concerned with anyone’s religious beliefs. I’m concerned about humanity & how people kill it on a daily basis. But I’m equally aware that I can’t do anything about it. I know people who have too rigid views regarding the religious beliefs of others & have no problem in calling them kafir. I think we don’t need to hold views regarding somebody else’s faith or judge them for their religious beliefs. When Pakistan was created, minorities were granted certain rights, but those rights have gone in the gutters.

Anyway, I do feel sorry for all those who have lost their loved ones.
