Cricket Carol

I remember the day...the World Cup Final in 1992 was the day when I actually fell for cricket. I was in school, it was cold and super sexy rainy weather. We didn't study at all because there was this assistant teacher that day who was too senti about the game herself. It was when I came back home, I watched the rest of the game.

It was perfect for anybody to love the game...we became the world champions, we had an amazing, good looking captain who spoke well and the PRIDE in our hearts was just phenomenal. While that song..."The world is coming down, The flags are up!" was just perfect. I so loved it. I still love it!

Now that was just the perfect way to fall in love :P It was simple. And I don't regret this one lol

Anyway, like all love stories, there have been just too many phases. I don't deny I have always kept and eye and followed the game. The 1996 world cup was too deep and heartbreaking. In between I was so crazy I watched all the series. Even test matches and the Ashes for that matter. I kinda stopped later on.

Honestly speaking that ugly world cup final in 1999 was a real turn off :P And since then, I don't feel so sentimental. I enjoy the game now. Our team is weird. I never curse them but it is just that they are so inconsistent that it aint even funny. Aisay thori kaam banta hai ::)

Then, I kinda had to follow cricket even more closely because of my job in media while making those Pepsi cricket plans. I had to watch the entire match to see all the stuff was being aired lol Darn what days they were :P And then this T20 mini cricket was the new convenient thing for everyone.

This time round, we were lucky that Pakistan even made it into the semi finals just cause some other teams won and lost games. I mean how shitty is that :P But we celebrated that too like crazy. And then it was unbelievable how the green team set a pretty decent target. And then I guess they were over confident or what...Aussi ppl were under pressure throughout the game. And BINGO...WE LOST :)

The moment we lost our cable guy turned off the cable. I couldn't even watch the ceremony. Many people reported the same happened with them. I think the cable guys got all angry as usual. Well, I think the team played well but yeah they could have won the game for sure. This was followed by all those sentimental and corny facebook status.

Mine was this : I still say ...Today is HISTORY :) That was great cricket!"

One of my ex colleagues was like ussay husssey nahi arahi :P
My ex boss ,she kinda had issues with her heart beat...she is pretty much alive though :)
Then there were many who were proud.
And a few angry ones too.
Some just wrote cause others were writing. Ek tou we are always following each other. That dilemma never seems to end.
My sister didn't bother as usual.

Ok Ok I admit, I am not happy we didn't make it to the finals :) Other this post wouldn't have been here. I feel these boys just don't act like fighters. They either give up too quickly and then their body language is so de-motivating for the nation that it sucks. Or they come under pressure when it is not even required. And sometimes they are just plain stupid. There is no such team besides them. Teams are good or bad. And they even have lucky and unlucky days. But this has more to do with our attitude.

Anyway, moving forward, I like England's team much more than the Aussie team. Just my general observation...this is the first time in all these decades, the Australian team is kinda not so hot lol I mean whatever happened to all the good looking dudes. Did they stop playing cricket or what? Thus, I'll support England! But, like I said, it will be more about having some good food and enjoying the match.

I am putting the 1992 World Cup song here...What A Day It Was :) What A Song It Was!
And I suddenly feel so OLD and ANCIENT:P

Following is the last memorable over from yesterday's match...Good stuff by Hussey! He was impressive. The green boys...I don't know whatever happened here.
