Yesterday I read a very cute story. A hen has adopted a litter of puppies. Her name is Mabel & she keeps them warm by roosting on top of them in their dog basket. She waits for Nettle (the mother) to leave them before hopping into the basket to keep them warm. Although Nettle was a bit startled in the beginning, but she doesn’t mind this as such. Mabel herself is a year old & these puppies are just 3 weeks old. Mable observed the mom & whenever she got a chance, she hopped into the basket.
The owners said that they were amazed to see it when it happened for the 1st time. Their 13 year old daughter saw it first & called them to have a look. And they all couldn’t help laughing.
When it comes to animals, I guess anything is possible. Sometimes a lioness adopts a deer. Sometimes a dog feeds kittens. Even I have cats who have adopted kittens of others. In spite of all the badness, it’s still a beautiful world...at least animals make it to be one.
