Right now I just couldn’t help going through the pics of the maid of Sir George Clausen. When we look at his paintings, this person looks very real. She seems to be a sad person though & she’s angry at something in one of the pics. That’s how I perceive it. But nevertheless she seems real. Somehow we don’t see the painter anywhere in his work. I think that too is an achievement when the creator cannot be seen in his work of art. But in his paintings, he only captured that moment. It’s not so with Leonardo. His painting of Mona Lisa is timeless, which is brilliant.
However, these women are fully dressed & we notice them. I have been to 2 or 3 exhibitions & yet I have never seen anything like Mona Lisa or anything even remotely like these 2 paintings. Maybe the soul is naked & that's why they paint it so. But somehow it just doesn't touch the soul of another being. I have felt this way & I don't have anything against nude paintings.
